Hampstead & Yalding Crusing Club Rules and Constitution

  • The name of the club shall be Hampstead and Yalding Cruising Club.

The objectives of the club shall be:
  • To promote good fellowship among boat owners.
  • To encourage activities afloat and on the Club land for all its Members.
  • To assist and represent boat owners in their boating pastimes.
  • To maintain safety on the water at all times.

  • Annual membership fee to be decided at an AGM or Extraordinary General Meeting and shall become payable on the 1st April each year.
  • New membership will be charged at £80 plus the cost of the Club Pennant.
  • Renewal membership will be charged at £40 per year.
  • Mooring on the club land shall be not more than 14 consecutive days in any 90 day period, or a total of 28 days in any one year (including 14 days consecutive). Members mooring on the land, and at other club events, do so at their own risk.
  • Membership shall be granted as family membership, i.e. Boat owner spouse and children up to the age of 18 as named on the Membership application form, this entitles the Boat owner and spouse each to cast a vote at the Club AGM.
  • On the receipt of a completed application form duly proposed and seconded by at least one committee member, and Duly signed to say that they have read understood and agree with the club Constitution and accompanied by the years subscription shall be met, and the club constitution presented by the Commodore & Committee Member for acceptance.
  • Members may not participate in club activities or functions unless subscriptions have been paid.
  • It is a condition of membership that each member’s boat shall be fully insured at all times, and their boat have a valid Boat Safety Certificate.
  • Members will, on the sale of any boat, remove the club pennant and any membership sticker from the vessel.
  • All Members must attend at least one work party and/or one club event during the membership year (exclusions e.g., on grounds of health mobility or commitments at the discretion of the Committee only).
  • The Club Pennant must but be flown by all craft when on the club land and when attending a Club Event.
  • No vehicles to be taken onto the club land without full permission of the Commodore.
  • Fishing permitted from Club members boats but not from the club land.
  • All new members are to serve a probation period of one Year, from date of acceptance of membership Application.

Management Committee:
A Management Committee shall be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting comprising of members including the following officers;
  • President - to preside, oversee and advise on club policies.
  • Commodore - to act as Management Committee Chairman, casting voter, Club speaker and representative.
  • Vice Commodore - to assist the Commodore in his/her duties and to undertake these duties on his/her absence.
  • Rear Commodore - to assist the Commodore and Vice Commodore in his/ her duties and to undertake these duties on their absence.
  • Club and Membership Secretary - To minute each Annual General Meeting and Committee Meetings. To attend to all clerical matters and to arrange the printing and circulation of Newsletters as required.
  • Honorary Treasurer - to attend to all financial matters and to arrange to maintain a list of paid up members. To produce an audited/examined Statement of Accounts at the Annual General Meeting each year.
  • Other officers i.e., Events Secretary, Membership Secretary, Newsletter Editor, etc., shall be elected as required by the club and committee year by year.
  • Any three of the Management Committee shall have the power to co-opt further or replace members of the Committee.
  • Management Committee Meetings shall be called by the Honorary Secretary with a minimum of seven days notice. The Management Committee may call an Extraordinary General Meeting at any time.

Resignation from the Club:
  • Every member on joining the Club shall undertake to comply with the Club Rules and to sign to say they have read understood and agree to comply with the club Constitution, Any refusal or neglect to do so, or any conduct which, in the opinion of the Management Committee, is either unworthy of a member, or otherwise injurious to the interest of the club, shall render a member liable to expulsion by the Management Committee. Before expelling a member the Management Committee shall call upon the person for an explanation and the opportunity shall be given for the person to defend themselves or resign the membership of the club.

  • One or more Auditor(s) shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.

Rules and Constitution:
  • These shall be amended only with the Full agreement of all committee members without exception.
  • Any conditions covered by these Rules shall be dealt with by the Management Committee, whose decision shall be final.

Annual General Meeting:
  • This shall be held every year as close to the end of the Boating Season as dates and venue allows.

Winding up of the Hampstead and Yalding Cruising Club:
  • In the event of the Officers and the Management Committee of Hampstead and Yalding Cruising Club finding that there is no longer sufficient support to continue as an active club, they will call an Extraordinary General Meeting where the assets of the club shall be held in trust by the President, Commodore, Secretary and Treasurer for a period of two years. If at the end of that period if no further interest has been shown in reviving the club, then any three of the trustees shall sell the assets of the club. The total liquid assets shall then be donated to the RNLI.
