OPEN NIGHT FOR CANCER PATIENTS

Date Posted: 17-08-2015

Bolton Cancer Voices believes that no one should feel alone with cancer; and they have a unique way of offering support to anyone whose life has been personally touched by the disease.

Formed in 2012 Bolton Cancer Voices is a Choir for cancer patients and cancer survivors. Rehearsals provide a weekly opportunity to focus on something other than the rigours of treatment, in a supportive environment where everyone understands the challenges of cancer.

Last year someone joined just one day after receiving their cancer diagnosis and for several members, the Choir has played an integral role in their cancer journey and recovery.

With 40+ members, Bolton Cancer Voices continues to grow in strength and confidence and is now looking to recruit a further 25 members. Membership is FREE; there is no requirement to read music and no auditions to worry about. The Choir has no geographical restrictions, as long as people can get to Bolton for rehearsals.

To enable other cancer patients to see if Bolton Cancer Voices might be of interest to them they are holding an open evening on Monday, 24th August, between 7.45pm – 9pm; at the Friends Meeting House, Silverwell Street, Bolton, BL1 1PP.

Why not drop in for coffee and meet some of the members: for more information contact Karen Elliott – Chair – 01204 595562 / 07773 164235 or simply turn up on the night.

‘It might sound a bit strange to talk about receiving a cancer diagnosis and joining a Choir in the same sentence but you have only to listen to the testament of our members to realize the potential benefits.

Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be life changing: joining Bolton Cancer Voices can be life affirming. Why not give us a try and experience the joy of singing for yourself? You will never meet a more positive, fun-loving and inspirational group of people than our members: come and be a part of our journey and let us be a part of yours.’

Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings 7.30pm – 9pm at the Friend’s Meeting House, Silverwell Street, Bolton; anyone interested should contact Karen on 01204 595562 / 07773 164235.
