CHOIR’S SEARCH FOR MUSICAL MAESTRO

CHOIR’S SEARCH FOR MUSICAL MAESTRO

Date Posted: 31-01-2019

The search is on for a talented, enthusiastic, fun-loving Musical Director to take over the baton as Musical Director of the North West’s first dedicated Choir for cancer patients and cancer survivors.

After six and a half years in post, Clive Rushworth is reluctantly stepping down prompting the search for their next choral leader.

Karen Elliott, Founder and Chair said: –

‘We are looking for someone with the requisite skills and experience, who can continue to make our rehearsals and performances fun and inspirational and make learning easy for all.
We need that exceptional someone to share our ethos and drive, ensuring we are the best we can be: someone who feels passionate about becoming the Musical Director of Bolton Cancer Voices.

We have come so far in the six and a half years since the Choir began in terms of our technical ability, confidence, cohesion and performance skills thanks to the belief, determination and professional expertise of Clive. We need to keep this momentum going and continue to inspire, challenge and develop; making the next chapter of our story as exciting and rewarding as the inaugural years have been.

This is a wonderful and unique opportunity to be part of something very special.’

On every level Bolton Cancer Voices considers themselves a community Choir like any other. However, what sets them apart is their singular criterion for membership – this being that you must have received a cancer diagnosis of any type at some point in life, be that yesterday or fifty years ago: and the fact that membership is free! There are no geographical restrictions, as long as people can travel to the centre of Bolton for rehearsals.

Though cancer brings this Choir together enabling people to meet with others in a similar situation, they focus on sharing their love of singing, having fun experiences, rising to new challenges and the enjoyment derived from entertaining others. Their determination not to let cancer define or restrict them recently saw members participating in the ‘Festival of Brass and Voices’, at the world-renowned Royal Albert Hall, London.
