History – 2015

2015

2015 has been another phenomenal year, in which the Choir has continued to go from strength to strength, gaining in confidence and technical ability.

This year saw us undertake six concerts / appearances, including contributing to the entertainment prior to the start of the Midnight Memories Walk in aid of Bolton Hospice; an appearance at Haigh Show on an idyllic summer’s day and our third ‘Jingle Bell Sing-A-Long’ concert in the Victoria Hall, Bolton, which for the first time featured the Greater Manchester Police Band as our guest musicians. This year’s event really raised the bar and the Choir rose to the challenge with spectacular results; the overwhelming consensus being that it was our best yet!

This year also saw the development of our website putting us on a global stage and giving people a window to our world: our ability to inspire those far and wide whose life has been touched by cancer demonstrated when we received a message from a cancer patient in Canada!

Now regular fixtures in our calendar – we enjoyed a Performance Workshop facilitated by our visiting Musical Director Carolyn Baines – a clip from which we’ve posted on You Tube – and our Singing Workshop, when the focus is on preparing our festive programme: while music feeds our souls both events dished up a delicious rehearsal tea to provide for our more earthly needs!!

Even a persistent drizzle couldn’t dampen our spirits when in June we set out on a sponsored Sunday Stroll to raise vital funds: participants spurred on by the promise of rich pickings at the finish line – bacon or sausage barms, washed down by a welcome hot drink! And true to form when it comes to the British weather, as the end was in sight out popped the sun!

Members continue to help us fundraising in other ways too, whether its through donations; growing, creating, making or baking; selling Christmas cards; donating goods to be sold by our eBay champion, who turns anything from a knickknack to a rucksack, a pendant to a Rembrandt into hard cash to swell our coffers; and we should make special mention of the wonderful Theatre Supper organized by one of our members at Bolton Little Theatre.

There are no upcoming events at this time.
